What is the latest version. How do I upgrade?

The latest version of VSB is 2.0 rev. 20. You may simply download and install the latest version to upgrade. All your information will remain intact.

 

Which operating systems are supported?

Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000 SP3.

On Windows 2000, SP3 or higher and MS Internet Explorer 6.0+ must be pre-installed.

VSB uses .NET 2.0 runtime. .NET 2.0 is pre-installed on Windows Vista. On other operating systems you will be prompted to install .NET 2.0, if it is not already present.

Does VSB support multiple users?

Yes. VSB data can be shared by multiple users by placing VSB data on a network drive. VSB, the application, is installed on each computer and references the data on the shared network drive. Unique logins for each user can be created for logging into a VSB database. Press F1 in VSB for detailed instructions.

 

Do I need a dedicated server to run VSB?

No dedicated server or IT help is required. VSB does not require any kind of database server either. VSB data can be shared by multiple users by placing VSB data on a network drive (File | New Database menu in VSB). VSB, the application, is installed on each computer and references the data on the shared network drive (File | Open Database menu in VSB).

 

How much disk space is required to install VSB?

Assuming .NET 2.0 is already present on your system, VSB only requires about 6 MB to install.

 

How do I backup my VSB data?

VSB stores its data files in a directory on a local or a shared network drive. To backup your VSB data, you simply need to periodically backup your data directory.

The location of VSB data directory is displayed on the left-hand side of the application's status bar (bottom, left of main window). You can also see the location of your data directory by choosing Help | About menu. Look for Data Directory on the About Dialog Box.

 

How do I move my VSB data?

VSB stores its data files in a directory on a local or a shared network drive. To move your VSB data, you simply need to move your data directory to the new desired location. In VSB, choose File | Open Database menu to point VSB to the new data directory location.

The location of VSB data directory is displayed on the left-hand side of the application's status bar (bottom, left of main window). You can also see the location of your data directory by choosing Help | About menu. Look for Data Directory on the About Dialog Box.

 

I have purchased VSB license and received the Registration Code. How do I enter the Registration Code?

Start VSB. Choose Help | Enter Registration Code menu. Enter the Registered User Name and Registration Code exactly as provided to you. This will convert your trial version into licensed version without re-installation. All your information remains intact.
